P Company Challenge

November 16, 2008

As described elsewhere even though I have a place in the London Marathon 2009, I’m unlikely to be taking part due to my knee op.  It will just be too soon for me to get back in to shape (I’m sat at home sipping beer and eating doughnuts whilst I should be out running) and I’ve decided […]

Wors Workout

November 16, 2008

My last physio session (where I did single leg presses) revealed that my right leg has only half the strength of my left leg – and I’m right legged.  Measuring my thighs showed that my right thigh was about 2cms thinner than my left thigh – I’m told that I need to work my right leg to […]

Knee Investigation 4

October 3, 2008

My knee has still been giving me some grief so I went back to see the man and he organised a knee op (arthroscopy) for me on the next Wednesday.  As my son was being married 3 days after that, I was told, by my SWMBO to have the op after that so the date was set […]

Knee Update

August 27, 2008

An hours gentle cycling with Adrian today.  Knee still seems good.   I’m looking at another 2 weeks or so before I try a gentle run.  I’m going to try a couple of laps of the local nature reserve which should be less stressful on my knee due to the slightly soft ground.  Can’t wait.

Knee Update

August 27, 2008

I managed a 3 hour bike ride on Saturday with Bunder whilst he ran – not too taxing but good exercise and it feels like my knee is getting better.   I’ve just got to be careful pushing up hills (or ride on the flat).  I’m trying a "left leg only" on hills technique which […]

Knee Investigation 3

August 20, 2008

I went last Friday to see the knee man with the MRI Scan results, it wasn’t the best of news:   I’ve bruised my lower leg bone inside my knee joint/cap which will take a long, long time to heal and I’ve got a small fracture of the knee cap.  The fracture is like a flap […]

Knee Investigation 2

August 7, 2008

I’ve just been for an MRI scan on my right knee.  The scan took place in the back of a lorry in the hospital car park and it about 20 minutes.  As the scanner is very noisy you’re issued with headphones and local radio is played through them.  For 20 minutes it was both loud, […]

Knee Investigation

August 3, 2008

I attended a session with a knee specialist on Friday morning.  He gave me a quick examination and reckoned he could feel something loose to the top and right of my of my right kneecap – the place that feels constantly bruised.  He also felt and heard the clicking that goes on when my right […]

Wors Workout

July 29, 2008

I’m nearly half way through the second week of my enforced running lay off.  I’ve organised to see an orthopod on Friday about my knee and hopefully start on the road to find out what’s going on with it.  The good news is that my knee appears to be getting a bit better due to the […]

Wors Workout

July 21, 2008

I visited the Doc on Tuesday and was given some exercises to carry out to attempt to strengthen my right thigh which the Doc reckons is the cause of the knee problems.  I don’t hold out much hope for this though I continue to carry out squats from a straight backed chair and step up […]
